This project aims to establish a future-oriented and well-considered architectural building in a new neighbourhood in Nittedal, Norway. A place to be, to socialize, and to live.
Saga Panorama by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter is planned as a comprehensive, independent and attractive multi-residential complex where the new building responds with care to it its historical, social and environmental context. This is achieved through a design strategy that emphasises an architecture driven by place. With strong environmental credentials, and shared & private social spaces, the highly considered design fosters a sense of community amongst residents. The office’s conceptual approach was based on a volume that integrates into the terrain to reduce the building’s perceived mass, whilst creating fantastic views over the valley. The building’s architectural language has a rich variety of forms and facades, serves to reduce the buildings silhouette and impact, while providing a strong architectural identity and great natural lighting. In this manner, Saga Panorama has been designed in a manner that finds opportunity in challenges, leading to a rich architectural proposal.
The project is based on socially responsible and ethical principles: site responsive architecture, a gracefully ageing and robust materiality, and respect for its social and environmental context. These are coupled with the strong fundamentals of liveability, functionality and economy. The steep topographical character of the area required that one approach its design in an innovative way, driven by an understanding of place. The homes are given their unique character and architecture by this understanding, which optimises opportunities on the plot in terms of views, outdoor space and access to daylight. As a design inseparable from its context, Saga Panorama is proposed as a new architectural benchmark for Nittedal, emphasising place, comfort and community.
