The Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture has announced that its most prestigious prize – the Jacob Award – will be given to Reiulf Ramstad. The prize was first awarded in 1957 and celebrates practising designers who have demonstrated excellent work within the Centre's disciplines.
The jury, consisting of highly acclaimed practitioners within the broad spectrum of design, is tasked to seek an exceptionally good professional practice with works in Norway, who has had considerable influence on the development within their field of study or had pioneering impact between multiple disciplines, often in a sustainable perspective.
"The firm demonstrates an ability to create good architecture independently of the projects' location, scale and function," – jury's statement.
Todays issue of D2, the lifestyle magazine of Norways 4th largest newspaper, featured an article with an extensive personal interview and a selection of RRAs most profiled projects in connection with the announcement of the award. The online article also includes a video presentation of some of his favourite projects.
The award ceremony takes place at DogA in Oslo, 20th of November 2014.
