“Oslo more Oslo” is our proposal for the area development of The Former Veterinary College at Adamstuen in Oslo. The area is set to be transformed from a closed institution into a new and vibrant urban center. With a rich history, the heritage will be carefully managed to ensure it remains part of the area's identity, preserving the unique atmosphere of the Oslo former veterinary college.
Our vision combines urban growth in cohesion with nature, by preserving and expanding the existing green structures and densifying in already built-up areas. We aim to maintain biodiversity and integrate the former veterinary college into its context and close environment, creating a new communal garden for the neighborhood.
The area will become an integrated part of the surrounding city, by embracing the best of local traditions and elements. By preserving and transforming the buildings that can be preserved, and reusing materials from the ones that must be taken down, we are able to maintain the unique character of the place, allowing the history to be told through both the new and the old constructions.
Our plan focuses on creating an inclusive, active urban environment with amenities that support daily life, work, and recreation, making it possible for residents to enjoy the area fully. The "allmenning", a common public open space, will connect The Former Veterinary College with Adamstuen to the West and Lindern to the est, and will serve as the hub and heart of the neighborhood.
As Pliny the Elder said, "Home is where the heart is," and our vision for The Former Veterinary College aims to embody this sentiment. It will become a warmer, greener, and more creative place, with more nature and more urban life.
